Project 2020
An optimistic social art project. (2012-2015)
The project was initiated by Sarit Rotman and is funded by crowdfunding.
The goals of the project are to give hope to women dealing with various eating disorders and to eliminate the shame surrounding the disorder. Sarit drew the inspiration for the project from her dealings with the disorder, which accompanied her for 16 years of her life.
For about three years, Sarit met with 11 women dealing with anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, or Binge eating disorder. From these meetings and a detailed personal questionnaire that the women filled out, she created a unique painting for each woman: a personal and optimistic visual vision for 2020.
These paintings, rooted in figurative art and expressionist art, are rich in colors and symbols, which serve as tools for healing and inspiration.
The project was revealed in various exhibitions and received significant attention from both the public and professionals in the fields of art and mental health. The symbolic art in each piece not only contributed to the healing process of the participants but also raised awareness of the important issue of eating disorders and the need for support and hope.
Project 2020 is an exciting example of the power of art to create a positive change in people’s lives and to connect the world of art with the world of healing while showing the deep connection between identity art and healing art.

In 2016, the project was presented for the first time in a solo exhibition at Azul Gallery in Tel Aviv. In 2017 it was presented again in the Brander Library for Management and Education in the Social Sciences at Tel Aviv University.
I believe in the power of art to bring goodness, light and love into the world. I invite you to explore my paintings, which have profoundly transformed my life.
