Curator: Raphael Barbibay. The exhibition “Taking Black Out of the Scale” by Sarit Rotman is a profound journey of personal growth and healing through art. After struggling with eating disorders for 16 years, Rotman shifted from creating dark pieces to embracing Healing Art by using vibrant colors. The series showcases Pop Art and Surrealistic Art influences, with a focus on Contemporary and Optimistic Art. This transition reflects themes like self-confidence, feminism, and motherhood, all influenced by modernist and Modern Art styles. Through her work, Rotman demonstrates the transformative power of art.

From The story behind the paintings:

“In one of my classes in college, my art teacher asked me to remove the black color from the scale. “You escape there too quickly, do without it”, he said. By challenging me he was, in essence, the first person who gave me the option to remove the black from my life”.
